How these artisan, one-of-a-kind cork fabric bags started.
Inspiration
One person, two sewing machines, one serger, yards of cork fabric and unlimited inspiration are the foundation of Shasta Bag Co. I've always valued unique and special, so focusing on crafting one-of-a-kind bags is a perfect fit with my love of individuality, functionality and style.
My bagmaking journey began when I gave up trying to find bags that suited my needs. I wanted a bag that was functional, stylish with simple lines, had no embellishments, was not ridiculously expensive and was comfortable to wear. I love a challenge, so I set out designing bags that would fit my needs -- every Shasta Bag is designed with those goals in mind. As I designed and wore my bags, people would stop and ask me where I bought my bag, which led me to start my business.
Every design starts with a sample that is then worn, tested and modified until I'm satisfied the bag meets all of my requirements. The result is high quality, hands-free bags that fit all of your needs, whether you are traveling or running errands.

How many times have you paid too much money for a bag from a designer label or one that you really liked the style but did not fit your storage needs or that was uncomfortable to wear. Each bag is designed for comfort, function and durability. All bags are handmade in my studio, so no two bags are exactly alike. An added bonus is Shasta Bags are made from cork fabric ("vegan leather"), so they are lightweight, good for the environment, and easy to maintain.
